Just some tips for you if you're going for this event.

1. Never wear branded shoes/sport shoes/high heel/ sandal will do
why? - every year without fail, the field will be wet and muddy. Which mean.. Rain..
(correction: by "Gary": got 1 year din't rain.) Just incase :D

2. Spare some cash for buying tickets voucher if you want to get some Japanese stuff back home. Minimun RM20. Not in YEN
why? - they don't accept cash, plus it's kind of Carnival or Fun Fair.. no merry go round.

3. Remember to bring your Album - T, or PowerShot, or SuperShot, or your camcorder to record or take photo with Japanese.
why? - just before the event end, there will be Fireworks.. so don't miss your chance to snap it unless you found it not a big deal for you. Also, you might lucky to take photo with Real Japanese or you got to take with by some local Penang-ite who dress like Japanese and speak a little bit of Japanese. Don't say I din't remind you. Btw, no offense for those who gonna dress up like a Japanese.

So, you going ? :D

Wesak Day

Wesak Day, also known as Buddha Birthday.. This is to significance the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Buddha.

Malaysia is one of the country that celebrate Wesak Day every year.

So as a buddhist, every year I will follow my parents to pray as well. And every year there will be a parade for this Wesak Day. Normally they will start from the main buddha society there and round some town area in Penang.

But before that, we will go to temple for praying and bath the buddha. Too bad, during my National Service.. I forget what they taught me already. Or else I can tell some history about the Wesak Day. Last year I celebrate during my National Service time.
DSC06749

Buddhist practice 8 precepts.

Not to kill
Not to steal
Not to engage in improper sexual activity
Not to indulge in wrong speech
Not to take intoxicating drinks and drugs
To abstain from taking food at unreasonable times
To refrain from sensual pleasures such as dancing, singing and self-adornment
To refrain from using high and luxurious seats in order to practice humility.

During that night, me and my few friend went for the Wesak Parade. We were there quite early so we had our dinner first before we wait at Burmah Road there.

DSC06842

Before that, I ask one of the uncle from the temple more details for that parade. So he tell me what time reach there and from where to where. He treat me like a tourist. :D

and then, the police start to do their roadblock thing. Which mean they gonna reach the place we wait.

Then contigent by contigent from everywhere in Penang walk pass through us. Some float is decorate with colourful lighting and flowers.

And some float got people sing also. So the whole procession wont bored. Can see different thing.

DSC07058

The whole thing pass my place in 1 hour plus like tht. So.. that's all about it.

Photo taken w/o flash n high ISO. Sry for blur image and some bad image.

'Snow’ falls from Penang sky White flecks seen during downpour

"PENANG: People may have said you were crazy, but if you thought you saw flecks of snow during the downpour here yesterday morning, you are not alone.

Executive Marina Ab. Jalil, who works on the 12th floor of Menara BHL on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, was called back to her office to witness the ‘strange phenomenon’.

“My boss, who comes from Beijing, called me to tell me that he and another colleague were seeing snow out the window.

“I was driving at the time and thought he was joking. Since when does it snow in Malaysia? However, when I got back to the office, I did see white things falling with the rain,” she said.

Marina, 36, described the falling particles as dust-like with a cotton texture. (I think aerople that ship bed.. the cotton all came out falling from sky. Like candy rain?)

“They were quite big when it was raining heavily and I took a picture but the photo did not manage to capture the particles,” she said.

A Star photographer who was sent to investigate said he saw flecks that looked like white dust. LOL

“They were extremely fine, so it didn’t come out in the pictures. They looked too light to be ice and seemed to flutter and disappear on the way down,” said the senior photographer, who checked the tops of park-ed cars near the building and found nothing but water.

A check with the Malaysian Meteorological Department showed that the temperature in the state reached a low 24.3 degrees Celsius yesterday.

“It’s highly unlikely and almost impossible that it was snow,” said an official.

“It could have been haze particles, but it’s very hard to say as I did not see it,” he added.

A department spokesman said it had never snowed in Malaysia although there had been instances of hail during intense thunderstorms.

SO... is it gonna snow or no snow?? T_________T

If really got.. gonna make snowman liao :D
